You shouldn't have to risk a humiliating rejection just to let someone know you're interested. And they shouldn't have to give you their number just to decide if they're interested too.

A better deal for both people.

If you're making the first move

Take the fear out of approaching.

Asking someone out can mean an awkward rejection, embarrassment or simply worrying that you've made them uncomfortable.

Mango lowers the stakes.

“I enjoyed meeting you. Here's my Mango if you'd like to connect.”

Then carry on with your day. No demand for an answer. No standing there waiting to be judged.

If someone gives you their Mango

You stay completely in control.

Taking a Mango isn't saying yes. Read their profile first and decide whether your lives might actually make sense together.

If you're interested, connect.

If you're not, do nothing. No explanation. No confrontation. No awkward rejection.

No rejection scene.

Share your Mango and let the other person decide later, privately and without pressure.

See before you connect.

Read their profile first. You don't need to initiate anything until you've decided you're actually interested.

Your details stay private.

You don't need to give a stranger your phone number, email or Instagram just to start talking.

Three steps. That's it.

1

Tell Aimee who you are.

Already have a Tinder, Hinge or Bumble profile? Paste it in. Or start fresh. Aimee helps turn it into something that actually sounds like you.

2

Get your Mango.

Your free personal profile comes with a QR code. Keep it on your phone, download it or put it on a card.

3

Share it in real life.

They scan, read and decide privately. If they're interested, they create a Mango account and message you inside Mango.

Know before you invest the time

Find out the important stuff before date three.

Attraction gets your attention. Clarity tells you whether it's worth pursuing.

  • Casual, long-term or marriage
  • Wants children — or doesn't
  • Open to a partner who already has children
  • Monogamous or non-monogamous
  • Financial expectations
  • Household and family expectations
Person first

Not another checklist of strangers.

Mango isn't a catalogue.

You already met this person in the real world. Their Mango simply lets you understand them better before deciding whether to take things further.

Built for control

Connect without handing a stranger your private life.

Look first.

Profiles are viewable before you decide whether to connect.

Talk on Mango.

Your phone number, email and social accounts stay private unless you choose to share them yourself.

Leave easily.

If someone makes you uncomfortable, block or report them and end the conversation.

Dating apps start with strangers. Mango starts with someone you noticed.

A note from the person who built this

I deleted Tinder
at 2am on a Tuesday
and felt nothing.

It had been a long time since the app made me feel anything at all. That was the problem. So I built something else.

i. — what the apps actually do

You already know the deck is stacked.

You don't need me to tell you. You've seen it. A small fraction of profiles get most of the attention. The same people who'd do fine without an app do better with one. Everyone else swipes through a thousand photos to send four messages that get one reply that goes nowhere.

The apps are not broken. They're working exactly as designed. They make money when you stay on them. They don't make money when you leave with someone. The math is the math.

"They make money when you stay. Not when you leave."

I used to open Hinge at eleven at night and close it twenty minutes later feeling worse than I started. I'd see the same handful of faces I'd already passed on. I'd write something thoughtful and watch it sit unread for nine days. I'd watch the boost prompts and the "see who likes you" upsells and the relentless gamification and I'd think — when did finding a person to be in love with become a slot machine.

So I stopped. And for a while I just didn't try. I told myself I'd meet someone in real life. And then I noticed how rare it had become to even talk to a stranger.

ii. — what it actually feels like

A card. That's the whole thing.

You see someone. At a coffee shop, in a bookstore, on the train. Someone who looks interesting. The old way is to find a moment, say something clever, hope it lands, ask for a number — and the second you start, you're inside a small public negotiation where one of you is going to feel something uncomfortable in the next thirty seconds.

The new way: you walk over, you say "hey, no pressure, here's me if you're curious," you hand them a card with your QR on it, and you keep walking.

scan to read about
— me.

That's the whole interaction. Maybe ten seconds. You don't wait for a reaction. You don't read their face. You don't ask for anything back. There's no number to exchange, no fake smile, no "I'll text you." You handed them a card. You walked away.

The card is in their pocket now. Maybe they pull it out later that day. Maybe they look three days from now and decide. Maybe they never look at all. You won't know. The only people you'll ever hear from are the ones who message you — and only when they do. Everyone else fades out of your life with no record. That's the point.

"Ten seconds. You handed them a card. You walked away."

On the other side of it — when someone hands a card to you — the experience is just as quiet. You scan it later, somewhere comfortable. You read about them on your own time. If you like what you read, you message. If you don't, you close the tab and the moment is over. The person who gave you the card never knew you looked. Never knew you didn't.

There's no door to slam, no rejection to deliver, no obligation to be polite to a stranger you don't want to talk to. Everyone gets a graceful exit by default. Nobody has to be brave at the same time as someone else.

iii. — about the page

Not a profile. A page.

I want to be clear about the difference. A profile is something you optimize. A page is something you write. A profile is six photos and three prompts engineered for the swipe. A page is a paragraph or two about who you actually are, written like a person, by you.

To help you write it, the app comes with someone called Aimee. She's an interviewer. You sit with her for ten or fifteen minutes — just typing, like talking to a friend who's a little nosier than usual — and at the end of it she gives you back a draft. You read it, you change what doesn't feel right, you publish.

Aimee
Hey. I'm Aimee. I'm going to help you build your page. Let's just talk — tell me about yourself. Whatever you want to start with.
You
I don't know where to start.
Aimee
That's fine. What did you do today.

A few important things about Aimee. She will not write your pickup lines. She will not tell you what to say to the person who scanned you. She doesn't optimize your page for "performance." She's not trying to make you more appealing, she's trying to help you be honest. If you contradict yourself across the conversation she'll gently ask which version you actually mean.

She is not a closer. She's a mirror.

"She's not trying to make you more appealing. She's trying to help you be honest."

iv. — about money

Free. Actually free.

No subscription. No premium tier. No paywall around the parts that matter. Sign in, use the app, meet someone.

If you want, you can order merch with your QR printed on it — cards, shirts, stickers, totes. The merch is good. Clean, editorial, nothing on it that screams I'm on a dating app. It also doubles as how strangers find you in the wild: wear the shirt, get scanned. That's how the app keeps running.

· · ·
v. — a word about who this is for

If any of this sounds like you.

You're not new to dating. You've been on the apps. You've had the streak. You've also had the bad three months where nothing worked and you started to wonder if it was you. It probably wasn't.

You still believe meeting someone in person is supposed to be possible. You don't think wanting that makes you old-fashioned. You think the version of dating where you actually see another human, in a real place, on a real Tuesday, is the version that's been quietly stolen from us by a handful of companies who'd rather we stayed inside.

You're not above this. You're not too cool. You just want a tool that's honest about what it is and what it's for.

This is the tool.

If you want in

It takes about ten minutes.

Sign in with Google. Talk to Aimee. Get your page. Get your QR. Go outside.
